Duke University Medical Centre, USA Stuart Grant graduated in medicine from the University of Glasgow and trained in Anesthesia in the West of Scotland Deanery. He accepted a position at Duke University in 1999 and works in the division of regional anesthesia. He is director of medical student education for the department and directs an ultrasound conference which has been running for over 5 years. He has published on both upper and lower limb regional anesthesia techniques including some of the pioneering work on ambulatory catheter techniques and has been invited to lecture internationally. He has been recently appointed full professor at Duke University. |

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Canada Colin McCartney completed anaesthesia and pain management training in Scotland before completing a regional anaesthesia fellowship in Toronto in 2000. From 2000-2006 he was staff anaesthetist and director of the regional anaesthesia fellowship program at Toronto Western Hospital. In 2006 he moved to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre where he is currently director of regional anaesthesia research and education and Associate Professor, Department of Anesthesia, University of Toronto. He has published over 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals in relation to regional anaesthesia and pain management and is an associate editor of the journal Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. |

Professor of Anaesthesiology Director of Regional Anaesthesia Professor Admir Hadzic has written more than 20 peer reviewed journal articles; in addition to a substantial number of reviews, book chapters, editorials and other publications. He recently published a comprehensive textbook including 83 chapters and 1260 pages titled Textbook of Regional Anaesthesia and Acute Pain Management. He is also well known for his contributions to Regional Anesthesia through the New York School of Regional Anesthesia. |

Chinese University of Hong Kong, Manoj Karmakar is the currently an Associate Professor and Director of Paediatric Anaesthesia at the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has published over 70 articles and/or book chapters and has been an invited speaker at over 30 International Conferences. in addition he has been active in organising over 20 courses, workshops, local and international meetings. |

Anaesthesia Institute, New Zealand Michael Fredrickson is an anaesthetist practicing in Auckland. He completed his undergraduate and postgraduate education in Auckland before undertaking fellowships at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne and later the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. His current practice consists of a mixture of predominantly paediatric anaesthesia and adult orthopaedic anaesthesia. His clinical and research interests include ultrasound guided peripheral nerve blocks, especially those involving perineural catheters and he has authored several journal publications and book chapters on these topics. His major current project is his M.D thesis (ultrasound and perineural catheters for postoperative pain management), which he is planning on completing during 2009.
